Preparing for Panama- 20 days away!
Today in Central Illinois, we’re experiencing what I would consider a midwestern heatwave. With temperatures expected to reach 62 degrees in the middle of February it feels almost like spring is teasing us and confusing the bees buzzing around my backyard that have no pollen to gather. In just 20 days, we’ll encounter weather nearly 20 degrees warmer than this but nearly 4,000 miles away in the Cocle`region of Panama. As busy as this near-midsemester stretch can be, myself along with 15 others will soon be traveling to Panama to partner with Global Brigades for a medical and service learning travel course. It’s a journey that comes at a demanding time in the semester yet it will be such a meaningful experience over the midterm break. In preparation for travel students are learning about the culture, setting up their personal blogs and some are even packing their bags.
